There are many factors that go into determining rates for creating indexes, mostly revolving around the type of material being indexed. For this reason, it is preferable to have a sample of the text in order to determine a particular rate. Factors that affect the indexing rate include:
  • Type of book (scholarly, technical, mass market, etc.)
  • Page size and format
  • Density of material (number of index entries per page)
  • Turnaround time (a timeline involving more than 40 pages per day may require an additional fee.)
Our preferred billing method is a per-page charge. Depending on the type of material, our rates are $3-7 per page.

If you have any questions about our rates, please send an email to ken@boltonindexing.com. For a fast quote, please attach a sample of the text (10-20 pages is sufficient).
